About the etsy shop banner size
Etsy's own help documentation asks for a big shop banner at 3360 × 840 pixels, with 1200 × 300 as the accepted minimum. The large figure exists because Etsy serves the banner at high density on modern displays: upload at the minimum and it looks acceptably crisp on an old laptop and visibly soft on a phone bought in the last few years.
Etsy also offers a mini banner at 1200 × 160. It is not simply a smaller version — choosing it changes your shop layout, pushing your listings higher up the page on desktop, and it does not appear on mobile at all. Since most Etsy browsing happens on a phone, the mini banner is really a desktop-only flourish. If your banner is doing real work for your brand, use the big one.

Tips for Etsy
What actually makes the difference once the size is right.
Upload 3360 × 840, not the minimum
1200 × 300 is accepted but looks soft on high-density screens. The full size costs you nothing once it is compressed.
Do not put your shop name in the banner
Etsy already prints it directly beneath. Use the space for what you actually make, or for a photograph of it.
Remember the mini banner is desktop only
If you switch to the 1200 × 160 mini banner, phone visitors see no banner at all. Most Etsy traffic is mobile.
Show the product, not a pattern
Shoppers arriving from search want to confirm they are in the right place. A clear photo of your work does that faster than abstract branding.
