About the x (twitter) header size
X uses a 1500 × 500 header photo — a 3:1 strip across the top of your profile, capped at 2 MB. It is a demanding shape: very wide, not very tall, and partly obscured. Photographs rarely survive it without careful cropping, which is why the strongest profiles tend to use a simple graphic, a texture or a wide landscape with plenty of empty space.
Two areas are compromised. Your profile picture overlaps the lower-left corner, covering roughly the first 200 pixels of width at the bottom. And on mobile, X crops a little from the top and bottom of the header, so the vertical extremes are not safe either. Design toward the centre-right of the strip and keep the vertical middle clear of clutter.

Stay out of the lower-left
Your avatar sits there on every screen size. Anything placed in that corner is permanently hidden.
Design for a strip, not a photo
3:1 is extreme. Wide, simple compositions with negative space work; busy photographs get cropped into confusion.
Check the top and bottom edges
Mobile trims the header vertically. Keep anything essential inside the middle 80% of the height.
2 MB is a hard ceiling
X rejects headers over 2 MB. JPG at high quality easily fits 1500 × 500 — the tool handles the compression for you.
