Facebook Ad Image Size: 1080 × 1080

The one square that behaves itself across Feed placements, cropped so nothing important sits near the edge.

Exact size 1080 × 1080 px Ratio 1:1 Max file 4 MB Formats JPG, PNG Source Recommended
100% private. Your image is resized on your own device using your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and there is no account to create.

Works with images up to roughly 50 MP (about 8000 × 6000 px) depending on your device's memory. WebP export is unavailable in a few older Safari versions — the option is disabled automatically when that is the case.

How it works

Three steps, no account, no watermark.

Add your image

Drag a file onto the box, click to browse, or paste straight from your clipboard with Ctrl + V. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Frame it

The crop box is already locked to 1080 × 1080. Drag the image to move it and scroll or pinch to zoom until it looks right.

Download

Pick PNG, JPG or WebP. The file is compressed automatically to stay under Facebook's limit — or grab every Facebook size at once as a ZIP.

About the facebook ad image size

A square image at 1080 × 1080 is the safest single size for a Facebook Feed ad. Meta accepts a range of ratios and serves them differently across placements, but 1:1 is the shape that survives the widest set of them without being letterboxed or cropped into something you did not intend. Note that this is the practical industry standard rather than a figure we could read directly in Meta's own ads guide.

The real trap in Facebook ad creative is not the pixel count, it is that one upload gets reshaped for many placements. Feed, right column, Marketplace and Stories all take the same asset and crop it differently. Designing with a generous margin — keeping the product, the face and any text well away from the outer edge — is what makes a single square work everywhere instead of forcing you to produce five variants.

Tips for Facebook

What actually makes the difference once the size is right.

Leave a margin on all four sides

Different placements crop differently. Content that hugs the edge of the square will be clipped somewhere in the mix.

Lead with the product or the face

Feed ads are judged in well under a second. The subject should be identifiable before any text is read.

Keep text short and large

Meta no longer enforces a hard text limit, but heavy text still performs worse and shrinks badly on phones.

Export a 1200 × 630 version too

Link and right-column placements favour the landscape shape. Both are in the ZIP pack on this page.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a Facebook ad image be?

1080 × 1080 square is the safest single size across Feed placements. This is the widely used industry standard; we were not able to read a specific figure in Meta's own ads guide, so treat it as a strong recommendation.

What aspect ratios does Facebook support for ads?

Meta supports a range from 1.91:1 landscape through 1:1 square to 4:5 portrait, and 9:16 for Stories placements. Square is the most forgiving across a mixed placement set.

What size is a Facebook link ad image?

1200 × 630 at 1.91:1, the same shape as a shared link preview. It is in the table on this page.

Is there still a 20% text rule?

Meta removed the hard rejection, but image-heavy-with-text creative still tends to be delivered less efficiently, so keeping text minimal remains good practice.

Do I need separate creative for Stories?

For best results yes — Stories is 9:16 and a square asset gets padded. The Instagram Story page on this site produces that size.

Is my creative uploaded anywhere?

No. Unreleased campaign assets are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
