About the facebook event cover size
A Facebook event cover is 1920 × 1005 pixels, close to a 1.91:1 landscape — the same broad shape Facebook uses for link previews. It is the image that represents your event everywhere it travels: on the event page itself, in the feed when someone marks themselves as going, and in the share preview when an attendee sends it to a friend.
That travelling is what makes the crop matter. In the feed and in previews the cover is shown smaller and sometimes trimmed further, so an event poster designed for print — dense with lineup, sponsors, small print and a QR code — becomes unreadable. The covers that work carry three things at a readable size: what it is, when it is, and where. Everything else belongs in the event description, which is right underneath and infinitely more legible.

Do not reuse a print poster
A4 posters are portrait and dense. Cropped to a wide landscape and shrunk to feed size, the essential details are the first casualties.
Keep the edges quiet
The cover is trimmed differently on phones and in share previews. Anything at the outer edge is at risk.
High contrast for the feed
Event covers compete in a busy feed. Strong colour separation gets noticed where a subtle photograph scrolls past.
